What is the difference between verified and evidenced Provenance proof points?
When you see a Provenance proof point on one of our product pages, you might notice some say 'evidenced' while others say 'verified'.
An evidenced claim requires a brand to publish public evidence to support their claim. Provenance’s Integrity Team checks the evidence to ensure it is credible and strongly corroborates the claim. These claims don’t receive a verified ‘green tick’ as they are not corroborated by a third party but still show that the brand has credible evidence behind their claim; they are presented as "Evidenced".
A verified claim requires a third party to confirm and/or certify that that the claim is accurate. These claims are published with a ‘green tick’ as they involve an independent third-party organisation strengthening the integrity of the claim; they are presented as "Verified".
