The Dyson Airstrait™ is switching up how we straighten, replacing the traditional heated plates with (carefully controlled) air. Dyson’s ethos behind this reimagining of a classic? No plates = minimal heat damage.
Learning the Airstrait™ also allows you to go from wet to dry while you straighten – cutting down your styling time by 25 percent – blew us away (pardon the pun). It’s all down to the high-pressure airflow, that’s precisely heated and evenly projected. The result is sleek, chic and straight, without the damage it normally takes to get there.
Plus, the Airstrait™ cleverly lets you pre-dry or add volume to your roots too with the aptly named Drying Mode.

Shonaugh, Executive Assistant
With thick, fine, wavy hair, Shonaugh is a long-time user of a traditional hair straightener, and was excited to give the Airstrait™ a go. She’d used the Dyson Airwrap™ in the past, and in typical Dyson fashion, “felt like this was a new concept [she hadn’t] tried before”.
Her first impressions? “I was blown away at the result of how [few] runs through the hair it took to be dry and straight!” she told us. “I loved the softness it gave as well,” she noted, unable to stop touching her hair once it had been styled.
Even more impressive was the longevity; the Executive Assistant noted that the Airstrait™ had taken her from “Thursday to Sunday without touching up” – the hair dream – and “exceeded [her] expectations”.
The Drying Mode feature was also a hit, with Shonaugh adding, “I didn’t expect to be as powerful as it was!”
Niamh, Paid Media Manager
Describing her hair as “curly and frizzy”, Niamh was “curious to see how well it straightens my hair without the heat.” Currently on an air-drying journey (in an attempt to use less heat), she was the Airstrait’s™ perfect test match.
Her verdict shone as much as her freshly styled hair: “I couldn’t believe how smooth it left my hair!” she said, clearly delighted. The proof is in her before-and-afters – super sleek, with zero sign of frizz!
As a frequent flyer, Niamh also loved the convenience of having a dryer and straightener in one: “It’s so handy for travel.” When asked whether she could see herself using it, she enthusiastically responded, “Absolutely. Minimal heat damage and a two-in-one – sign me up!”
