We’ve been biting our tongues to not tell everyone we know – and all 288,000 people at The Eras Tour’s Melbourne leg – about the new products and brands launching into MECCA this March. But our time has come; here’s the new beauty to get on your radar.
New brands you need to know
Beauty steps outside of the box this month, with a more holistic approach. Pearly pioneers MOON Oral Beauty bring Kendall Jenner’s famous Teeth Whitening Pen to MECCA, in addition to an electric toothbrush that has become the centre of Junior Brand Manager Isabella Watkins’ every conversation (in all fairness, she has an incredible smile). Biologique Recherche – an exclusive and elusive methodology of skin treatments – calls MECCA Aesthetica and our George Street flagship it’s new home, and by all accounts is the answer to achieving the best possible complexion ever (Mary-Kate and Ashley are fans). Plus, ingestible beauty brand INTU WELLNESS joins the MECCA lineup, supporting my love for ‘fun drinks’ – though I’m certain these serve me better than my 3pm Diet Coke.
Skincare to add to your rotation:
Cue the fanfare: Drunk Elephant have dropped their latest moisturiser and it’s the real deal. For those that love a thick, emollient cream that seals everything in and leaves your skin feeling noticeably different even after you’ve washed it off, Bora Barrier is the one.
Glow Recipe are the latest to buck the bronzing drop trend with their Watermelon Glow Tinted Hue Drops (Westman Atelier’s contributions landed with acclaim last month), and they’re that good. The drops are surprisingly different to its bronzing predecessors, having great flex between the fairest and the deepest skin tones, and applying with a silkiness and that sinks into the skin instantly.
The lip oil effect is real
The ‘lipstick effect’ is a well-known signal of economic downturn; large luxury investments are put on pause, with little luxuries – artful lipsticks, pleasureful glosses – taking a front seat. It’s a confronting reality, however there’s comfort in the plush lip oils and glosses entering the beauty ether, from every category.
Too Faced and Gisou are leaning into the lip oil trend with their Kissing Jelly Lip Oil Gloss and Honey Infused Lip Oil Shimmer , respectively, and La Mer are prioritising plumping with The Lip Volumizer, an ultra-luxe gloss that dare we say might even rival our obsession with Tatcha’s Kissu Lip Mask. Treat yourself to all three – one for the bag, one for the desk, and one for the bedside.
Sexy vanillas are the new smell
Diptyque’s Eau Duelle EDP has long reigned as the cool, mysterious, non-saccharine vanilla perfume. D.S. & Durga’s newest gourmand, Deep Dark Vanilla, and Maison Margiela’s By The Fireplace, however, are coming for the crown.
Deep Dark Vanilla veers more digestif than danish pastry, with a sharp greenness and dramatic patchouli note that gives it a genderless edge. In fact, if a guy were to wear this on a date we’re almost certain they’d find themselves in luck.
Speaking of luck, Margiela’s By The Fireplace wearers will be thrilled to find out the smoky, spicy, vanillary scent has taken new form in a shower gel, body lotion and hand cream. Adorn with the diffuser, strike a match to the candle, lather up your body and spritz the O.G. scent all over to bask in the cosiness of the Maison Margiela fan favourite.
