Blush stacking is the cheek-centric trend that was originally put into the spotlight by international makeup artist Nam Vo and follows an easy recipe of creating a dewy makeup base and layering multiple layers of blush to build a vibrant, long-lasting pigment. For rosy-cheeks that never looked so good, hit play!
Create a dewy base
1. Skin tints and liquid (and cushion) foundations are MVPs when mastering blush stacking, as the satiny finish prevents a cakey finish. We prepped our model’s skin with ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 in ‘Papakolea’ for its sheer coverage and everyday glow.
2. Brighten the eye area with Smashbox Halo 4-in-1 Perfecting Pen Concealer, apply with a brush from the inner corner to the outer area under the eye and blend.
Sculpt the face
3. Apply Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter to the hollows of the cheek, temples and hairline and buff with a fluffy blush. This contour and bronzer in-one offers radiance in a flash.
4. Line the lips and contour the corners with Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in ‘Foxy Brown’, then fill them in with bareMinerals Dewy Lipgloss Balm in ‘Strength’ (a bright currant hue).
Start your stack
5. For your first layer of blush, reach for Glossier Cloud Paint in ‘Dawn’ (a sunny coral tint) for a seamless cheek colour akin to a sunset. Apply this liquid blush to the high points of the cheek and extend to the upper eyelid and brow and blend with a MECCA MAX Beauty Bullet Flawless Sphere.
Amplify your blush pigment
6. This blush stack is just getting started. Fortify your blush with a sweep of NARS powder blush in ‘Dominant’ (a vibrant matte poppy pink) across the cheeks, eyelids and right up to your temples.
7. Repeat the same process (no, you’re not experiencing déjà vu), this time with a layer of NARS powder blush in ‘Orgasm’.
Ditch the eye shadow
8. Keeping everything consistently luminous is the aim of the game when blush stacking. Ditch the eye shadow for Westman Atelier’s Lit Up Highlight Stick in ‘Nectar’, and apply to the eyelids, cheekbones and bridge of the nose.
9. Complete the look and give your eyelashes a lift with Westman Atelier Eye Want You Mascara.
