Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Ireland founded Summer Fridays in 2018 with the goal to create efficacious, simple skincare for their busy, jet-setting schedules. Their first product, the Jet Lag Mask, quickly became a travel essential for every beauty lover thanks to its ability to make skin look more post-facial than post-long haul.
As she prepares for the long journey from Los Angeles to Melbourne, the founder, content creator and podcaster is sharing her ultimate travel beauty routine, revealing the secrets to keeping her skin plump, glowing and nourished from take off to touch down.
Pre-Flight Prep
According to the travel beauty aficionado, a good in-flight skin routine begins way before you check in your bags: “Travel can be so dehydrating for the skin, so I always focus on products that keep me feeling refreshed and hydrated,”
“Before heading to the airport I do my full skincare routine and I typically don’t wear makeup on long haul flights,” she continues, “I’ll always cleanse my skin and apply a thick layer of the Jet Lag Mask to lock in hydration.”
As Marianna explains, this mask is “the ultimate multitasker to combat dryness and leave skin looking glowy”.
The iconic blue tube is packed to the brim with glycerin, niacinamide and cucumber extract to soothe and nourish, while also being fragrance-free. As its name suggests, this mask instantly hydrates and revives dull, tired, ‘jet-lagged’ skin.

In-Flight Routine
I can’t travel without a lip balm like our Lip Butter Balm and the Jet Lag Skin Soothing Hydration Mist,” says Marianna, who boards with Jet Lag Mask applied (it sinks in like a moisturiser, so you won’t look like you’ve stepped out of a clinic mid-facial) and keeps her actual in-flight routine pretty simple. “Both products provide a hit of hydration mid-flight,” she notes, for long haul flights that feel instantly more luxurious.

Marianna’s biggest tip for maintaining a just-had-a-facial glow at 9,000 metres? “Hydration is key!”
She emphasises how staying hydrated on the inside makes all the difference on the outside, encouraging fellow jet-setters to drink plenty of water and avoid consuming too much caffeine or alcohol before and during a flight.
