We’re committed to reducing carbon emissions across our entire supply chain, which includes the way products are manufactured right through to the disposal of packaging.

The first step for us was to understand our Scope 1 and 2 emissions, including the consumption of electricity and water and the generation of waste, across our 110+ MECCA sites in Australia and Aotearoa (New Zealand).

Our Distribution Centre is powered by 100 percent renewable energy, and we’re always looking for ways to lower our carbon emissions in all of our sites and stores; this includes things like improving our LED lighting and heating and cooling systems in our stores, finding ways to produce renewable energy onsite and offsite, and more.  

Next, we’re looking at our Scope 3 emissions. This includes our suppliers, the purchase of goods and services, our transportation and distribution network, waste generation and how our customers use and dispose of our products. We are working proactively with our suppliers and our teams to find opportunities to reduce these emissions, which will not only help MECCA’s carbon reduction plans, but also the wider industry.
