Lucky for us at MECCA HQ, they’re our colleagues. So when it came time to narrow down the best new foundations at MECCA, we tapped our go-to foundation enthusiasts for real-life reviews on the best of the latest drop.
From skin tints to complexion sticks (and the revival of the matte finish!) we asked our team to try them all.
Consider this your guide to the very best new foundations at MECCA right now, according to MECCA HQ.
Hasmyn, our Data Analyst, is no stranger to a tinted moisturiser and was first in line to try this skincare-makeup hybrid from Chantecaille. Botanically-infused, this formula offers lightweight coverage while moisturising the skin, making it an instant everyday-classic.
“I love that it is a buildable formula and the coverage can be customised depending on the occasion,” she explains, where a lighter application can be worn during the day and fuller coverage for nocturnal activities.
Hasmyn also notes that this tinted moisturiser also layers excellently with other makeup. “It wore beautifully underneath my cream and powder products with no requirement to touch up throughout the day.”
Shiny disco balls are great at 3am but less so at 3pm, which is where this Too Faced cult-classic comes in handy – it minimises T-zone shine with its oil-free formula and soft matte finish.
Personal Assistant, Abbie, describes her skin as combination-to-oily where “makeup usually slips and slides throughout the day no matter how much prep or setting” is involved.
She was surprised by the long-lasting, shine-proof results of this foundation. “It's quite matte but not at all lifeless, and sits perfectly on the skin to lasts all day,” she raves.
This foundation is the height of luxury with its lightweight fluid formula that simply glides onto skin and frosted packaging that will elevate any bathroom shelf to Architectural Digest territory.
Jasmine, our New Store Innovation Lead, was pleasantly surprised to see her typically oily skin “shine free without losing its natural glow” after wearing this Tom Ford must-have.
Though, her favourite thing about this foundation was its eraser-like characteristics resulting in seriously flawless skin.
“My favourite part about this product was how it instantly made my skin look so smooth,” she explains. “It instantly blurred and perfected my skin without looking too heavy.”
Marissa tries By Terry CC Brightening Foundation in ‘2C Cool’
Our Head of Application Services, Marissa, has three words for anyone reading this: “Add to cart!”
Describing her skin as oily, Marissa finds some foundations just “slip right off” but was caught off guard when this By Terry everyday staple did the opposite – “it stayed well and didn't add to my shine.”
Marissa would recommend this foundation for both everyday use and those fancier occasions where you’re after fuller coverage due to its buildable consistency. “I could control the level of coverage easily, for general day-to-day leave it quite light, then build it up for going out,” she explains.
Our Senior Strategy Manager, Zama, is a longtime follower of Glossier and “loves how accessible the brand is” with its no-fuss, all-fun approach to makeup and skincare.
Zama tried the Stretch Fluid Foundation – a gel-cream base that melts into the skin for a flawless, hydrated finish.
Her verdict? It’s a shortcut to easy, reliable and everyday flawless skin and the ultimate makeup base for a "date night or girl’s night out" makeup.
Our Head of Fabulosity, Tony, was thrilled to try the More Than A Pretty Face Foundation on his “mature and dry” skin.
Tony says that while the unusual egg-shaped packaging caught his attention initially, it was the texture that won him over: “It sort of lives between a skin tint, a tinted moisturiser, and a foundation. It's bang right in the middle,” he says, adding, “It gives you a natural radiant glow, but when I wear it, I don’t feel like I’ve got any makeup on.”
And when he declared that, “This is my new favourite foundation!” we couldn’t add it to our carts fast enough.
Demand Planner Laila’s favourite part of the Skin Rewind Complexion Stick (besides the ergonomic packaging) was its near-endless versatility: “It's not just a foundation. You can use a deeper shade to contour or get a fairer shade and use it as a concealer.”
She adds, “I could wear it to work. I could wear it if I was going out, you could even just chuck it on if you're running errands. It makes your skin look a bit more even, but you can also build it up.”
