Of all the senses, there’s none more connected to emotion than scent. This month at MECCA, we’re exploring the way fragrance makes you feel – from adventurous to glamorous, confident, serene and romantic – and how to match your scent to your vibe.
Do you love going on a different hike every weekend, flights to far-off lands and moments of spontaneity? There's a high likelihood that someone, sometime, has described you as 'adventurous' or 'free-spirited'. We don't just mean in the literal, physical sense – you pride yourself on your open mind and willingness to try things, from a new restaurant to a bright lip colour. And the same goes when it comes to your fragrance selection, which is as dynamic and energetic as your personality.

Laura reminds us not to underestimate the abilities of fragrance to transform our mood: "I'll wear an adventurous fragrance when I need to get into creative flow, I'm stepping into a new environment or if I'm planning to spend the day experiencing the beauty of nature (or want to feel like I am)!" Which notes make a fragrance adventurous?
When it comes to fragrances that exude an adventurous spirit, Laura can't go past "those that feature notes reminiscent of the great outdoors – woody notes like cedar and sandalwood, green notes like galbanum and blackcurrant bud, and fresh notes like calone, juniper berries and cucumber." After all, it makes sense – outdoorsy is one of the main adjectives associated with many of the adventurous people in your life!
"These molecules evoke memories of walking through a forest, breathing in the ocean breeze, or opening a window and getting the whiff of the scent of damp earth after rain – inspiring a burst of energy, a clear mindset and a sense of appreciation for the world around us," Laura explains.
